The Blueclaws offense failed them once again as they lost in extra innings on a walk off hit by Shorebird outfielder D.J. Stewart.

Right fielder Jose Pujols’s only hit was a double and he struck out two times.

Center fielder Carlos Duran had a strong night for Lakewood, serving up two hits and stealing a bag.

Catcher Austin Bossart struggled at and behind the plate. He went 0-4 with two strikeouts as a batter and had two throwing errors on defense.

The pitching for Lakewood was very good Thursday evening despite the loss. Starter Harold Aruaz, who was acquired in the Ken Giles trade, pitched eight shutout innings and only allowed four hits and two walks. He also had five strikeouts on 97 pitches.

Robert Tasin pitched two innings in relief and allowed only two hits and got four strikeouts.

Sutter McLoughlin only went a third of an inning before giving up a walk and ultimately the game-winning hit for Delmarva.

The Phillies number eight ranked prospect Franklyn Kilome will take the mound as the 20-year-old searches for his first win of the season. He has struck out 20 batters in his last 21 innings of work for Lakewood.
