Philadelphia Phillies Weekly Awards: June 11th to June 24th
Welcome to a double edition of Philadelphia Phillies weekly awards.
Simply put…it could have been better. The Phillies went 3-10 during the stretch and it has become clear that they are losing the last ounces of remaining support from the city.
Take to social media and you will see that every player, coach and executive is on the hot seat. Luckily for this spiraling team, the All Star Break is not too far away.
Let’s take a look at the best and worst players over the last two weeks.

Cameron Rupp

Rupp’s tenure is Philadelphia needs to be coming to a close. He has consistently shown that he is below average at calling a game and it’s clear he can’t make it up with the bat.
Rupp hit .160 over his last 7 games, striking out 10 times in the process. That brings his average to .204 on the year.
It seems as if it’s time to start weening playing time away from Rupp as we move towards the second half of the season.

Edubray Ramos
Are there really no better options in the pen than Ramos. It is absolutely baffling.
Ramos is sporting an 18.00 ERA over the last two weeks. The 24 year old managed to give up eight earned runs on four hits and six walks in just four innings.
Ramos now sits at 0-6 on the season( 0-7 now that he took another loss Sunday afternoon) and Pete Mackanin continues to run him out there day after day.
Most Valuable Position Player
Howie Kendrick
Kendrick is playing his way straight out of Philly. The veteran utility man hit .391 over the last two weeks. Although almost all singles, Kendrick has shown that he can still turn some of those singles into doubles as he was able to swipe four bags in five attempts.
Kendrick has been sidelined the last couple days with hamstring issues but let’s hope for the sake of trade value that it’s nothing more than tightness.
Most Valuable Pitcher
Pat Neshek
To quote Moneyball…(inaccurately of course):
“The problem we’re trying to solve is that there is Pat Neshek. Then there’s fifty feet of crap, and then there’s the rest of the Philadelphia bullpen.”
Neshek is has been astounding the entire season and the last two weeks have been no different. The side slinging righty threw 7.2 innings of shutout baseball striking out seven while walking no one.
Next: Scott Kingery promoted to Triple-A
Neshek’s value continues to rise as we get closer and closer to the deadline.
