The Philadelphia Phillies (87-58) will be looking for a series sweep against the Tampa Bay Rays (71-74) on Wednesday after a wild 9-4 win on Tuesday.

The Phillies' 87th win of the season came with plenty of drama. Kyle Schwarber led off the home half of the first with a historic home run. His 14th leadoff homer of the year set a new MLB single-season record. Schwarber later left the game after bruising and hyperextending his elbow when diving back into first base on a pickoff attempt in the third inning. Unfortunately, the Phillies' DH was scratched after being part of the original lineup today.

Starter Ranger Suárez struggled through 5 1/3 innings, giving up four runs on a career-high 12 hits and unable to hold three separate leads. The bullpen held firm the rest of the way with a 4-4 tie into the eighth. That's when things got crazy.

The Phillies bats piled on the Rays bullpen, sending 10 batters to the plate and scoring five runs to go up 9-4. Cal Stevenson played the hero with a big go-ahead two-run double. Buddy Kennedy tacked on an RBI single, and Trea Turner followed that with a two-run home run. Visibly upset, Rays reliever Edwin Uceta blatantly hit Nick Castellanos and the benches and bullpens cleared in a wild scene.

Now, we'll see if the Phillies come looking for retribution in the series finale.
