Bryce Harper’s methodology when it comes to applying toothpaste is … unique. That’s to say the least.

While most folks apply the toothpaste-to-brush-to-mouth method, Harper shocked toothologists and novice brushers alike with his viral video posted to TikTok on Monday

In it, Harper cuts out the middle variable of the equation, opting instead to squeeze the toothpaste directly from the tube into his mouth before beginning the brushing process.

As is the case with many things Harper does, the video garnered significant attention, with some reactions playful, others confused, and others mired in ire.

Even Harper’s on-field opponent got in on the fun the night after he posted the clip.

During Harper’s third at-bat of Philadelphia’s 4-3 win over San Diego Tuesday, the Padres video board flashed a fun fact under Harper’s name. The message, written in big, bold, capital letters, read: "Squirts toothpaste into his mouth instead of onto a toothbrush when brushing his teeth."

Bryce Harper is leading Phillies while shaking off online hate

When asked about the reaction to his revelation, Harper emphasized he was just happy for the surplus in views.

“It kind of happens when you post a little bit, right?” Harper said Wednesday. “But yeah, I’ve done it forever. I mean, it’s gone viral, so I’m happy about that. It always helps with my videos when it goes viral, so if that’s what makes it go viral, then I’ll take it.”

Much of the banter surrounding Harper’s dental preferences has been fun. But online exposure oftentimes means online hate, and that’s no different even with ‘get ready with me’ videos. Harper’s response to haters and trolls was about as Philadelphian as you can get.

"I mean, people are losers, and you know they're gonna be losers," Harper said. "If that's what they want to do, then that's what they're gonna do."

Two things are abundantly clear here: Harper is not going to let the haters stop him from his online escapades, and in fact, he revels in the reality that more Debbie Downers equal more followers.

Harper is still searching for his first World Series ring, but for all intents and purposes, he’s won in life. Two MVPs, eight All-Stars, 376 home runs and an almost-certain Hall of Fame nomination will tell you that.

And for those who’d rather focus on criticizing him, he’s got a healthy dose of brotherly love ready to heap on you.
