Even some of the Philadelphia Phillies' brightest stars can't escape the limelight of the digital age. Since January of 2025, when Bryce Harper was in his "barista era," showing his followers various coffee recipes, the Phillies first baseman has become quite the TikTok phenom.
However, earlier this week, the three-time MVP's Monday video, which consisted of the 33-year-old brushing his teeth, featured Harper putting toothpaste in his mouth directly from the tube, and showed all his parasocial followers how he brushes his teeth each morning. And boy, was it disturbing.
Now that things have started to turn around for the second-place Phillies, fans have time to focus on the lighter things happening this season, like Harper's controversial toothpaste application. But Phillies fans aren't the only ones getting wind of it, because during the sixth inning of Tuesday night's contest, the San Diego Padres' scoreboard operator(s) decided to have a little fun with Harper.
When Harp dug in for his third at-bat in the top of the fifth inning, in which an ABS challenge confirmed he was rung up on strikes, the Padres wrote the fun fact, "Squirts toothpaste into his mouth instead of onto a toothbrush when brushing his teeth."

Phillies secure win over Padres, despite the San Diego trying to throw them off with antics
Aaron Nola held strong on the mound for six innings and allowed just two runs. And Harper wasn't the only Phillie seeing the ball well last night, with JT Realmuto and Trea Turner homering too.
There were some changes to the Phillies' lineup before the contest Tuesday night, with Kyle Schwarber reclaiming the leadoff spot, and the homering Turner batting behind him as he tries to find his swing amidst a troublesome first half to the 2026 season.
The number three man in the lineup, however, has been the star to watch this season. After an offseason in which the Phillies' president of baseball operations Dave Dombrowski, began to question Harper's "elite" status, Harper has looked to put Dombrowski's worries to rest as he continues to mash as he's currently hitting .272/.367/.533.
So, yeah, Padres, he can apply the toothpaste however he wants.
