Break out the tissue box, folks. Brandon Marsh has fully embraced the Philadelphia Phillies fanbase. Marsh, who is having a terrific 2026 season, is second in the All-Star vote among National League outfielders, trailing only Andy Pages of the Los Angeles Dodgers. Understandably, Marsh is pretty emotional about it.
"I'm getting chills just talking about this," said Marsh in the interview with Foul Territory TV.
Marsh knows that he is not a household name across the league. In his first five MLB seasons, he has never been named to an All-Star team, and watching Phillies fans completely backing his candidacy as an All-Star this year has added another layer to his stable relationship with Philadelphia's faithful.
Brandon Marsh's career year has not gone unrecognized by Phillies fans
In spite of a brief injury scare in late May, Marsh has been one of the top outfielders in the National League. Entering June 23, he has 82 hits and 10 home runs, which is already inching towards his career-best numbers of 112 and 16, respectively. Over 26 percent of his games played have seen him record multiple hits. That type of production is going to turn heads.
Is Marsh on the same level as Juan Soto or James Wood this year? Not quite. But that's fine. Marsh is getting paid just over $5 million this season and he is playing like an All-Star. Anyone would love to have that kind of player in their lineup. But what makes Marsh's season even greater is that he is allowing the fans to feel like they are part of it. He isn't showboating. He isn't only crediting his teammates and coaches. He has made the fans feel like they have a hand in his success.
Not only is that going to potentially make Marsh a first-time All-Star, but also a beloved legend among Phillies fans. He's accepted them. They have definitely accepted him. He's been acting the way every fan wishes their favorite player would. Has that helped him earn more All-Star votes? Maybe. But either way, he's earned a spot on the same team. Showing appreciation for that is a perfect response.
