Torey Lovullo played for the Phillies for 17 games in 1999 — the last year of his playing career. In the 1999 season, the then-33-year-old infielder Lovullo batted .211 in 38 at-bats.

Out of those 38 at-bats, he hit two home runs with the Phillies. Before playing with the Phillies in the last year of his career, he previously spent time playing for seven different teams. Some of those seven teams include the New York Yankees, Detroit Tigers, Oakland Athletics, and most notably, the Phillies.

He had not played with the same team for more than two seasons, often bouncing from team-to-team during his playing career. Lovullo had also not played more than two years straight in the major leagues, often going at least one year without playing in the big leagues. In his playing career that lasted just eight years, he had not received at least one award nor appear in any all-star games.

He finished his MLB career with a .244 career batting average and 16 home runs. He appeared in 303 games overall.

Following the 1999 season, Lovullo announced his retirement from Major League Baseball.

Currently managing the Arizona Diamondbacks, Louvllo was hired to manage the American League West division team in 2017 and has been their manager since. In his debut season managing Arizona, he led them to a winning 93-69 record back in 2017. Since then, he has finished three full seasons having a winning record.

Lovullo’s Diamondbacks’ contract is set to expire after the 2021 season.
