Baseball America released their 2019 Top 100 prospect list Wednesday (subscription required), naming three Phillies prospects to the list. Sixto Sanchez, Alec Bohm, and Luis Garcia were ranked No. 13, No. 65, and No. 88, respectively.
Sanchez returns to the list after being ranked No. 25 on last year’s iteration of the list. Bohm, the club’s 2018 first-round pick, and Garcia, who made his professional debut in 2018, are newcomers to the list.
Sanchez’s season was limited due to elbow inflammation. He only made eight starts but excelled in that brief period, posting a 2.51 ERA, 2.66 fielding-independent pitching, 1.07 WHIP, and 4.09 strikeout-to-walk ratio in High-A Clearwater. BA stated Sanchez has the upside of a No. 1 starter and he has often drawn comparisons to Luis Severino of the Yankees.

Bohm was selected No. 3 overall by Philadelphia after displaying a strong mix of power and hitting ability at the plate for Wichita State. He has the arm to play third base but there are questions about his mobility. If he can manage to stick at third base, he profiles as an above-average regular at the position with.
Philadelphia signed Garcia out of the Dominican Republic in 2017 with a $2.5 million signing bonus. He showed why he earned so much money, winning the Gulf Coast League batting title and showing off his plus defensive potential at shortstop. BA stated that Garcia could soon become the team’s top prospect, especially if Sanchez graduates to the majors in the near future.
Five Phillies prospects were ranked in the Top 100 by BA before the 2018 season. J.P. Crawford ranked No. 16 and spent an injury-riddled year in the majors before being traded to the Mariners earlier this offseason. Scott Kingery, who ranked No. 31 overall, also graduated to the major leagues.
Adonis Medina fell off the list after a down year relative to seasons prior. BA’s Ben Badler said there was a chance Medina still could have made the list, but obviously, that did not happen. Adam Haseley was the final prospect on the list last year and had a good season at the plate, but Badler said Haseley still needed to show more to make the list.
