The Lehigh Valley Ironpigs, the Phillies Triple-A affiliate, have made it to the postseason for the second straight year as they beat the Railroaders 4-0!

The Phillies‘ Triple-A affiliate Lehigh Valley Ironpigs have made it to the postseason with a 4-3 win against the Railroaders! They’ve now made it for two consecutive seasons.

Behind J.P. Crawford’s home run, the Ironpigs were able to score three runs in the first inning and another run in the second. Crawford went one-for-three and that one hit was the one that mattered the most.

Scott Kingery, who was leading off for the Ironpigs, walked two times in his four plate appearances. He finished the game going one-for-two. He scored twice. Brock Stassi, who was designated for assignment and outrighted to the Ironpigs earlier this week, was hitless in three at-bats today.

Although Scranton, the New York Yankees affiliate, outhit the Ironpigs 11-7, the Ironpigs were still able to hold onto the win and advance to the playoffs!

Henderson Alvarez went seven full innings for the ‘Pigs today. His only allowed one earned run on five hits. He struck out three batters and allowed one home run, which was the only run. His earned run average for the season is now at 2.84.

The bullpen, consisting of Cesar Ramos and Pedro Beato, combined for two innings, six hits, and two earned runs. Beato picked up his 33rd save of the season. Ramos earned run average now stands at 4.00, while Pedro Beato has an ERA of 3.72.

Although this is exciting for the Ironpigs and the entire organization, they will be without their best player from the second half as Crawford was promoted to the major-leauges after the win. He said that while the playoffs are exciting, being in the majors is what he has been working towards for so long.

Once the Ironpigs are eliminated from the playoffs, that’s when Philadelphia will fully expand their roster for September call-ups. Unfortunately, that could be a while from now as it all depends on whether the Ironpigs win or lose.
