There’s not much time left in the regular season. With just six games remaining on the schedule, the Philadelphia Phillies are so close to locking up a first-round bye, which is good news for Trea Turner and his injured right hamstring.

While an extra four days off before the National League Division Series begins on Oct. 4 will be a good thing, Phillies fans will still likely see Turner back in the lineup before they wrap up the 2025 regular season.

To that end, the Phillies provided some good news about Turner’s progress over the weekend in Arizona.

Trea Turner making good progress with injured hamstring, could return to Phillies lineup on Thursday

According to MLB.com’s Todd Zolecki, the Phillies expect Turner to play before this upcoming weekend. He’s scheduled to face live pitching on Tuesday and Wednesday at Citizens Bank Park, with the Phillies bringing in minor league pitchers to face the NL batting average leader.

The Phillies will also want to see him running at 100 percent before he gets unleashed back into game action. Even if Turner’s not ready for Thursday’s series finale against the Miami Marlins, he should get into one of the weekend games.

The best thing about this update is that with another week, if the Phillies can clinch the first-round bye, there should be no doubt that the All-Star-snubbed shortstop will be ready to go when the NLDS starts.

Turner first injured the hamstring on Sept. 7, during the series finale in Miami. He removed himself from the game after running out a play to first base in the seventh inning. Phillies fans’ hearts sank at the time, and even more so when he went on the 10-day IL the following day.

The only good news was that it was a less serious Grade 1 strain. Turner has been a catalyst at the top of the lineup, and the Phillies are lucky that his injury wasn’t as severe as last year’s strain that kept him out for six weeks. This season, Turner is batting .305 with an .815 OPS, 15 home runs, 69 RBIs, 94 runs scored and 35 stolen bases in 140 games.

The offense hasn't missed much of a beat in his absence, as it helped power a September run that saw the Phillies clinch the NL East last week, while Turner remained back in Philadelphia to rehab.
