The Philadelphia Phillies are on track to make over their outfield by the start of next year. Fans should expect new faces playing the outfield at Citizens Bank Park in 2026. One of those new faces could be the just non-tendered Adolis García.
The Texas Rangers non-tendered the right fielder García on Friday, making him a free agent. He has struggled since 2023, but is an option for Philadelphia to consider signing. He was going to earn $12.75 million in his final year of arbitration before becoming a free agent next offseason.
News: OF Adolis Garcia is being non-tendered by the Rangers, sources tell ESPN. After hitting .227 with 19 home runs and a .665 OPS, the 32 year-old is set to become a free agent. Had a 1.108 OPS in the '23 postseason.

Adolis García could be worthwhile signing for Phillies after Rangers non-tender
Phillies president of baseball operations Dave Dombrowski should consider adding García. According to MLB insider Jim Bowden, as he reported the outfielder's non-tender status, the Phillies are one of the four possible clubs to watch that could sign García.
The #Rangers have non-tendered RF Adolis Garcia who becomes an unrestricted free agent. Watch the #Phillies #Pirates #Guardians #Angels as possible landing spots

The native of Ciego De Avila, Cuba, is coming off his second consecutive disappointing year following his 2023 season, in which he made the best impression when it mattered most. García finished with a postseason record 22 RBIs in the 2023 playoffs. He also had eight home runs with a .323/.382/.726 slash line and a 1.108 OPS in 15 playoff contests. His 107 RBIs during the regular season that year were second-best in the American League and tied with Mookie Betts for sixth-best overall.
García finished with a slash line of .224/.284/.400 in 2024 , with 25 homers, 85 RBIs a.684 OPS. The 32-year-old's struggles continued this season. He played in 135 games, which was his fewest since 2020, and compiled a .227/.271/.394 line with 19 home runs and 75 RBI. Based on his level of play in 2024-25, compared to 2021-23, the right fielder could benefit from a change of scenery. He will now get the opportunity.
There is a risk with signing García, considering how many of his offensive statistics have plummeted since 2023. However, the Phillies would be buying low on a player who has shown what he is capable of regarding home run and RBI production. He would be a candidate to rebound, playing often at hitter-friendly Citizens Bank Park.
Manager Rob Thomson could use him in right field or as their designated hitter depending on Kyle Schwarber’s status. García is one option Thomson could consider using García in a potential DH rotation if Schwarber does not re-sign with the organization.
As for the rest of the Phillies outfield, Nick Castellanos will be traded or released, and both Harrison Bader and Max Kepler are free agents. Bader may or may not return, while Kepler certainly won't.
It is unknown if Brandon Marsh will be traded during the offseason or remain with the club in his platoon role. Johan Rojas and Weston Wilson are two other players whose futures with the franchise are currently unknown. One of their top prospects, Justin Crawford, could be starting in left or centeron Opening Day.
