The 2024 season is right around the corner. After the disappointment of the Philadelphia Phillies’ earlier-than-expected postseason exit in the National League Championship Series, it can't come soon enough for Phillies fans.
Luckily we don't have to wait too long to baseball action, with Spring Training set to get underway mid-February, with pitchers and catchers reporting first. The Phillies’ Spring Training schedule gets underway on Feb. 24, when they travel to Dunedin to play the Toronto Blue Jays.
The Phillies' long-awaited first Grapefruit League home game comes on Feb. 25, as the new-look New York Yankees visit BayCare Ballpark in Clearwater. Will Juan Soto be along for the ride, or will this be a split-squad affair?
The Phils' 31-game Grapefruit League schedule concludes with a home game against the Tampa Bay Rays on March 25, which leads directly into a potential regular-season opener (in Philly!) for the ages.
When is the Philadelphia Phillies’ 2024 Home Opener?
The Phillies’ Home Opener coincides with MLB Opening Day, as they will host the division rival Atlanta Braves at Citizens Bank Park on Thursday, March 28, with a 3:05 p.m. ET first pitch. They'll then have the Friday as a scheduled off-day (to be used in the event of an Opening Day rainout).
The series against the Braves will continue over the weekend, with a game time of 4:05 p.m. ET on Saturday and 1:35 p.m. ET on Sunday.
It promises to be an entertaining 3-game series to open up the regular season, as the Braves will visit Philadelphia for the first time since being eliminated in the National League Division Series for the second straight year. While the Braves have won the NL East division six years in a row, the Phillies have knocked them out of the playoffs in 2022 and 2023 in dominating fashion.
After the Braves leave town, the Phillies will continue their homestand by welcoming the young and exciting Cincinnati Reds to town for three games from April 1-3.
