After a successful 90-72 regular season and a fun run through the postseason until the bitter end of their shocking NLCS loss to Arizona, the Phillies made strides after their wildly unexpected 2022 postseason run. Even if they didn't make it as far in the playoffs in 2023, they cruised through the Wild Card round and crushed the division rival Atlanta Braves in the NLDS.

The Phillies, by and large, were a better team than the 2022 version — not without their flaws, however. It just took them a little while to get their act together this year, but once they kicked it into gear, they showed what they're really capable of.

Are the Phillies expected to be 2024 World Series contenders?

The early odds to win the 2024 World Series via BetMGM show the Braves as the betting favorites to win the next Fall Classic, opening with +650 odds. It seems the Braves, who bashed their way to a 104-win record this season, are the favorites across most betting sites, including Bet365 (+650), FanDuel (+600), DraftKings (+700).

The Phillies, at +1100 odds on BetMGM, trail the Los Angeles Dodgers (+800), the Houston Astros (+900), and the Rangers (+1000) to win the 2024 World Series.

The Phillies also appear fifth in the odds on FanDuel (+1000) and DraftKings (+1100), while Bet365 gives them the same +1100 odds as the current World Series champion Rangers.

If you're looking to place a wager on the Phillies redeeming themselves in next year's NLCS, BetMGM has them pegged at +500 odds behind the Braves (+300) and Dodgers (+380) to reach the Fall Classic.

There's still a long way to go before the 2024 World Series, so the Phillies have plenty of opportunity to prove the oddsmakers wrong.
