Ahead of the highly anticipated 2026 All-Star Game in Philadelphia, the Philadelphia Phillies have announced brand new renovations to Citizens Bank Park, showcasing their commitment to enhancing their fan experience.
Phillies reveal plans for huge upgrade to the New Era team store at Citizens Bank Park
According to Michael Tanenbaum of PhillyVoice, last week, the Phillies officially received the green light from the Philadelphia Arts Commission to move ahead with a plan that will increase the size of the New Era team store at Citizens Bank Park. The expansion calls for the addition of over 3,500 square feet of floor space to the store that is located next to the third base gate. Models of this expansion are available online and provide fans with an opportunity to view the future of the ballpark in great detail.
In order to accommodate the extra space required for the team store, the Phillies will have to remove trees from outside the gate. Despite this, the team does plan to replace the trees with new landscaping which was well received by the Arts Commission.
This expansion of the team store is well overdue because of the volume that the store receives on a daily basis. The Phillies are currently third in baseball with an average attendance of 41,498 fans per game at home. With the Phillies among the league leaders in this category, more people are flocking to the team store for gear which causes congestion and long wait times before the games and in between innings.
This expansion will allow for less congestion and also the ability to sell more merchandise and memorabilia which in turn will likely increase revenue sales in future seasons. With the All-Star Game and Home Run Derby coming to town in 2026 to mark the 250th anniversary of 1776, opposing fans will have the opportunity to see the new plan in all its glory.
Phillies continue to make improvements to Citizens Bank Park
The new developments at Citizens Bank Park come on the heels of major changes that have taken place in the stadium in recent years. In the last two seasons, the Phillies have made big changes to their scoreboards with the massive new upgraded installation of Phanavision in 2023, and the new digital scoreboard in right field that replaced the manually operated projection that has been a staple of the ballpark since 2004.
In addition to changes to the ballpark, new long-term developments are in place to potentially transform the stadium complex into a luxurious experience with plans to build new restaurants, stores, a concert venue, and fan plazas. Xfinity Live, which was the former home of The Spectrum, will also see a huge expansion as the premier entertainment venue. This announcement was made earlier this year and coincides with the Sixers plans to potentially move out of the area.
Over the last 20 years, Citizens Bank Park has become the site of many memorable moments, including three World Series and even a Blue Jays home game in 2010 (yes you read that right). It appears with these latest changes that the Phillies and the Philadelphia City Council are committed to bringing fans a unique experience for the next 20 years and beyond.
