Phillies reveal NLDS Game 1 lineup for first MLB playoffs showdown vs. Mets
The Phillies finally begin their postseason quest with Game 1 of the NLDS at Citizens Bank Park against the Mets.
The Philadelphia Phillies and New York Mets have never played against each other in the MLB playoffs. All that is about to change when the National League Division Series gets underway this afternoon.
The No. 2 seed Phillies, with home-field advantage, will host the No. 6 seed Mets at Citizens Bank Park for Game 1 of the 2024 NLDS, with first pitch scheduled for 4:08 p.m. ET. The Phillies unveiled their 26-man roster for the series earlier today, and now we know how they'll lineup when they take the field on Saturday.

The Phillies went 95-67 in the regular season and won the season series 7-6 over the Mets. New York went 89-73, finishing September 17-9 and a 40-27 second-half record. The Mets continued their late-season roll with a dramatic comeback in Game 3 of the Wild Card Series against the Milwaukee Brewers on Thursday.
Probable pitchers for Phillies vs. Mets NLDS Game 1, October 5
Ace Zack Wheeler will take the mound against his former team in what promises to be a wild scene at The Bank. The right-hander had a Cy Young-caliber season but faced the Mets only one time, near the end of the season. He went seven innings, allowing only two runs on seven hits while striking out eight times.
Kodai Senga will counter for the Mets. The 31-year-old right-hander spent most of the season on the IL with a shoulder strain followed by a calf strain, only making one start in late July. In two meetings with the Phillies last season, Senga and his "ghost fork" held the Phillies to a .140 batting average and .354 OPS with 15 strikeouts over 12 1/3 innings.
