After making the postseason as a Wild Card team the past two years, the 2024 NL East champion Philadelphia Phillies are looking to go on another long run through the MLB playoffs this season. As the No. 2 seed in the National League, their journey begins with the NLDS on Oct. 5 after earning a bye past the Wild Card round.

The Phillies are one of the favorites to contend for the World Series title this year after getting off to a 62-34 record in the first half. They played .500 baseball the rest of the way, but with a star-studded roster, they'll be considered the favorite in the NLDS.

Below, we have all of the information you'll need as far as dates, start times and where to catch these games on TV.

Phillies playoff schedule and results

The Phillies will host the No. 6 seed New York Mets in the NLDS beginning on Saturday, Oct. 5. With home-field advantage, the Phillies will host Games 1 and 2 at Citizens Bank Park. Key matchups to watch in Phillies' playoff series

The Phillies went 7-6 against the Mets this season, outscoring them 69-59 over the 13 games. They lost four of the seven games the two NL East rivals played in September. The Phillies and Mets have never played in the postseason. The Mets feature a starting rotation of Luis Severino, Sean Manaea, Jose Quintana and Tylor Megill, with some big-name players in first baseman Pete Alonso and shortstop Francisco Lindor.

Phillies manager Rob Thomson has already announced ace Zack Wheeler as the Game 1 starter, while Cristopher Sánchez will take the ball in Game 2. Veteran Aaron Nola will get the Game 3 start in New York, with Ranger Suárez lined up as the fourth starter if the Phillies need him.

Both teams had potent offenses this season. The Phillies scored the fifth most runs in the majors with 784, while the Mets were seventh with 768. They were also close in the power category, with the Mets swatting 207 home runs to the Phillies' 198.

Playoff History: Phillies' past postseason success

This year will mark the 17th time the Phillies franchise has been in the playoffs in its 141-year history. This is the third consecutive year the Phillies are playing in the postseason. They reached the World Series in 2022 as the No. 6 NL seed but bowed out to the Houston Astros in six games. They made it as far as the NLCS in 2023 before shockingly losing in seven games to the Arizona Diamondbacks.

The Phillies last won the World Series in 2008. Before that, the franchise's first World Series title came in 1980.

This season's Phillies team is much the same as last year, with some key changes made to the bullpen mix. They brought in Carlos Estévez at the trade deadline and now boast a formidably deep relief corps for the playoff run. With stars like Bryce Harper, Kyle Schwarber and Trea Turner at the top of the lineup and a strong rotation featuring Zack Wheeler, Aaron Nola and Cristopher Sánchez, the team and the fans expect to challenge for the World Series again this year.

How to get tickets for Phillies playoff games
