The Philadelphia Phillies announced the official debut of their new Nike City Connect uniforms on Monday morning. Many Phillies fans have been anticipating the news since it was announced that the club would be donning the new jerseys this season.

The Phillies will officially debut the new uniforms on Friday, April 5, at 10:00 a.m. at the New Era Team Store at the Citizens Bank Park. This will be the only place to purchase one of the new jerseys, at first.

The organization is also hosting a Block Party in partnership with Fanatics to celebrate the release outside of Citizens Bank Park on Friday from 3:00 to 9:00 p.m. Fans will have a chance to meet former players, sample fare from different food trucks, and watch the Phillies take on the Washington Nationals on the road. The game will be projected on a big screen for the watch party.

When will the Phillies wear the City Connect uniforms?

The club will wear the new uniforms for the first time on April 12 at home against the Pittsburgh Pirates. The Phillies will also sport the City Connect jerseys every home game played on Fridays throughout the season.

The idea of the Phillies getting a City Connect jersey has been a controversial topic. There were some leaks that had been posted on social media that drew criticism from much of the fanbase.

While this is not the official version of the new uniform, it is the one that has drawn the most attention from Phillies fans. The coloring is supposed for be symbolic of the colors on the City of Philadelphia's flag.

Due to the new City Connect jerseys debuting this season, the Phillies had to get rid of one of their other jerseys. The solid red jersey was the one to be taken out of the rotation. Along with the City Connect uniforms, the Phillies will continue to wear the powder blue jerseys for home Thursday games, the cream jerseys for home day games, the road gray uniforms, and the typical red pinstripes.

There will surely be plenty of reactions to the new uniforms upon their release. Regardless of reception, the City Connects will be a part of the Phillies' uniform rotation throughout the entire season. The time has come to accept it.
