The Philadelphia Phillies (6-6) escaped St. Louis with a series win after taking Wednesday's finale against the Cardinals by a 4-3 score. Aaron Nola had to grind through more cold, wet weather but still put up six innings, giving up two solo home runs but only three hits total, with three strikeouts. Alec, Bohm, Brandon Marsh and Nick Castellanos all drove in a run, while Jeff Hoffman picked up his first save with a clean ninth.

The Phillies are kicking off a 10-game homestand, beginning with four games against the NL Central-leading Pittsburgh Pirates (9-3). The Phils, who may have to deal with more wet weather, will have their hands full as they try to climb above the .500 mark for the first time this season and improve on their 2-4 record at Citizens Bank Park. The Pirates have not lost a series this season, have posted a +19 run differential, and are an impressive 6-1 on the road.
