You may enter the cornfield, but you may never leave. The Phillies vs. Twins Field of Dreams Game had already taken on a semi-ominous tone long before the weather report clarified itself. After all, which self-respecting Phillies fan wants to watch the (shudder) 2026 Phillies? Things only got less magical when the skies darkened on Thursday, putting Netflix's centerpiece game officially in danger.
We'll forgive Phillies fans who haven't had to Google "Dyersville, Iowa weather" much over the years, but this evening seems to be a particularly risky night for a ballgame. There could be a window, based on the latest intel, but expecting a five-and-fly game might be our best bet (Aaron Nola is thrilled, no doubt).
According to Weather.com, scattered thunderstorms from 3-5pm EST will give way to cloudy skies until 10:00 PM, which is when the thunderstorms start again. First pitch is supposedly at 7:30 PM EST, but with all that pageantry, expect a slightly later start. Then, maybe the storms move in a little sooner than expected and the radar changes ... yeah, we should see a game tonight, but it's going to be threatened with relative consistency by the vengeful Thor and his bolts.

Phillies vs. Twins Field of Dreams: Weather isn't the only thing looming for Phils
As if the skies opening up wasn't enough, when they do so, they'll be raining on Byron Buxton, activated from the Injured List and added to the Twins' roster just in time as the 27th man.
Buxton, an AL All-Star this season after ripping 25 home runs in 82 games, paired with his usual blend of sterling defense, has been on the shelf since July 29. While the wet and windy conditions are less than ideal for him to show off his all-out brand of baseball in the Iowa cornfields, he'll probably still find a way.
We're just a few hours away from lineups, first pitch, baseball, and will keep you updated on any changes in status. For now, they have built it (a modern ballfield in the middle of an Iowa movie set), but will they come (the Phillies offense, in any capacity)?
