The Philadelphia Phillies are so close to wrapping up the 2025 regular season and are looking ahead to the postseason after wrapping up a first-round bye on Wednesday. Unfortunately, they couldn't get through their final homestand without yet another rain delay at Citizens Bank Park.

With the Miami Marlins in town for the penultimate series of the season, the two NL East rivals had their second rain delay of the three-game set in Thursday's finale.

Phillies vs. Marlins Rain Delay Details: Weather updates, start time

The Phillies and Marlins should be able to complete the final game of their series, eventually. The Weather Channel is currently forecasting rain on and off until around 10:15 p.m. ET.

With an original start time of 6:05 p.m. ET, the Phillies and Marlins managed to start the game on time.

The Phillies carried a 1-0 lead into the bottom of the seventh inning before Mother Nature showed up and rain barreled into South Philadelphia. The two teams played through a rainy half inning before the rain eased off and allowed them to play into the bottom of the eighth before the tarp came out at 8:29 p.m. ET to put a stop to things.

The Phillies officially announced the rain delay at 8:30 p.m. ET on their social media accounts but didn't provide a tentative start time at the time of writing, so we'll have to hang tight for an update.

Phillies vs. Marlins Rain Delay: Walker Buehler battles through five innings

After splitting the first two games of the series, the Phillies sent newcomer Walker Buehler to the mound to secure the rubber match on Thursday. The right-hander didn't have his best command but battled through five scoreless innings. He allowed three hits and three walks while striking out two on 74 pitches (44 strikes).

In a reversal of their previous appearances in Arizona, Taijuan Walker followed Buehler and pitched two shutout innings, allowing one hit with two walks and three strikeouts.

The Phillies' lone run came in the first inning, when third baseman Alec Bohm had a groundout RBI, scoring Harrison Bader from third. That's all the scoring they were able to muster against a combination of starter Janson Junk and relievers Cade Gibson, Ronny Henriquez and Josh Simpson.
