Coming into his 14th MLB season with 976 RBIs, it was only a matter of time before Bryce Harper reached 1,000 RBIs.
Even though he has gotten off to a slow start this season, even shaving his head to try to turn things around, the Philadelphia Phillies' superstar right fielder-turned-first baseman reached the 1,000 RBI milestone on Friday in front of the home crowd at Citizens Bank Park.
Bryce Harper reaches milestone 1,000th RBI on Friday
With the Phillies opening a three-game series with the Pittsburgh Pirates, Harper got the milestone out of the way in his third at-bat of the night. The 1,000th RBI of Harper's career broke a 0-0 tie in the bottom of the fifth inning.
With two out, Harper came up with and runners on the corners facing Pirates starter Andrew Heaney. He served a soft single into left field to bring Johan Rojas home.

His RBI on Friday brings him to 24 on the season. He now has 479 RBIs since signing with the Phillies ahead of the 2019 season.
Harper becomes the 306th player in MLB history to reach the 1,000 RBI milestone, and the first to do so in a Phillies uniform since Ryan Howard achieved the feat in 2014. The slugging first baseman was the fastest to reach 1,000 RBIs among active players at the time, when he did it in 1,230 games. Harper accomplished the milestone in 1,697 games.
Only four players have compiled 1,000 or more RBIs while in a Phillies uniform. Those include Mike Schmidt (1,595), Ed Delahanty (1,286), Howard (1,194) and Del Ennis (1,124). With Harper sitting at 479 since becoming a Phillie, he has a way to go to reach those lofty totals.
Bryce Harper also joins another exclusive club with 1,000th RBI
Already with 343 home runs in his career, Harper joins the exclusive club of now 151 players with at least 1,000 RBIs and 300 home runs. He also hit the 300th homer of his career with the Phillies, on Aug. 30, 2023.

The former Washington Nationals first overall pick entered Monday's contest with a career .280 batting average and .907 OPS, 1,106 runs scored and 146 stolen bases. Since signing his 13-year, $330 million contract in Philadelphia, he has hit .282 with a .916 OPS with 159 home runs, 496 runs scored and 71 steals. He won his second-career NL MVP Award in 2021, and has been named to two All-Star teams and won three Silver Sluggers with the Phillies.
Unfortunately for Harper, the Phillies and the fans, he has yet to lead the Phillies to the franchise's third World Series title. Although, finally winning his first ring would certainly cement his legacy as an all-time Phillies great.
