No strangers to classic and creative threads, a Philadelphia Phillies' minor league club recently unveiled a new throwback look for the 2025 season that will be instantly recognizable to fans.

The Reading Fightin Phils, the Phillies' Double-A affiliate, will pay tribute to the 1980s era of Phillies baseball with new “Throwback Thursday” uniforms that they will wear on Thursday home games at FirstEnergy Stadium this year.

The new threads feature the classic maroon and white colors worn by the 1980 and 1983 World Series teams that are beloved by Phillies fans across multiple generations, although with a few tweaks to fit the team's identity. The uniforms will feature the classic style lettering and pinstripes with an R for Reading replacing the P to represent the city of Reading.

The Phillies initially wore these uniforms from 1970 to 1991 with subtle changes added over the years. The last time they were worn by the major league club was back in 2016. Since then, the team has donned several throwback designs, including maroon threads and most recently the road blues that have been a fan favorite since they returned in 2018.

Beyond the throwbacks, the newest addition to the Phillies' collection of jerseys are the City Connect uniforms that debuted in 2024, which feature blue and yellow jerseys and pants that pay homage to the city of Philadelphia’s flag.

At the minor league level, the new throwback uniforms are just the latest addition to the collection of special edition threads worn by the Fightins over the years. Recent designs include the Whoopies in 2017, Hot Dogs in 2023 and most recently the Keystones in 2024.

The first opportunity for fans to check out the new uniforms will be on April 17 when the Fightins host the Binghamton Rumble Ponies at FirstEnergy Stadium at 6:45 p.m. ET.

They will wear the uniforms a total of 11 times during the course of their 69 games at home in 2025. The final chance to catch them during the regular season will be on Sept. 11 when they take on the Somerset Patriots at home.

Even though you will have to wait until April to see these threads in action, you can get them now at the team store. Merchandise surrounding the new campaign is available on the Reading Fightin Phils shop on the team’s website. Here you can find the replica jersey to go along with throwback hats, jackets, and more to get ready for the 2025 season of Fightins baseball.
