The Philadelphia Phillies (46-30) and New York Mets (45-31) continue their series at Citizens Bank Park on Saturday night with another nationally televised affair. The Phillies extended the scuffling Mets' losing streak to seven with a raucous 10-2 win in Friday's series opener, per MLB.com's Paul Casella.

With Zack Wheeler on the mound, it was a close game through the sixth inning. Wheeler left with a 2-0 lead after five innings, but Taijuan Walker gave up a pair of solo home runs to even the score in the sixth. Luckily, the Phillies' bats woke up in the seventh.

A six-run frame was capped by some wild baserunning on a Bryson Stott bases-clearing double to left center. Nick Castellanos and J.T. Realmuto scored back-to-back, mere feet apart, in a scene that looked like something straight out of Major League. Castellanos added a two-run homer in the eighth and the Phils waltzed away with a big statement win.

Now winners in nine of their last 11, the Phillies took sole possession of the NL East lead. They also sit just a half game behind the Los Angeles Dodgers for the top record in the NL and 1.5 back of the Detroit Tigers for the best record in the majors.

Phillies vs. Mets probable pitchers, June 21

  • Mick Abel (2-0, 2.21 ERA) will make his fifth start for the Phillies. The rookie, who just rejoined MLB Pipeline's Top 100, hasn't been quite as sharp in his last couple of starts as he was in his MLB debut, but he has gotten the job done. He held the Miami Marlins to one run on three hits over five innings last time out, but will face a much stiffer test against the Mets.
  • Griffin Canning (6-3, 3.80 ERA) will start for the Mets. The 29-year-old right-hander got off to a strong start this season, going 5-1 with a 2.47 ERA over his first nine starts. However, he has regressed over the last month with a 6.75 ERA with 16 walks and 17 strikeouts in his last five outings. Canning picked up a win against the Phillies in April, holding them to one run on seven hits over five frames.
