The Philadelphia Phillies (43-29) and the Miami Marlins (28-42) will take to the field at loanDepot park on Tuesday for Game 2 of their four-game set. The Phillies took the series opener 5-2 to extend their win streak to five games. They've now won six of their last seven.

Rookie Mick Abel gave the Phillies five innings of one-run ball in Monday's win. The offense scored two on Marlins starter Sandy Alcantara and then took advantage of Miami's bullpen for three more. Trea Turner and Max Kepler each homered and Alec Bohm added a pair of RBIs as the lineup produced another double-digit hit effort.

Phillies manager Rob Thomson deployed his bullpen a little differently than usual. After Taijuan Walker pitched a clean sixth inning, Jordan Romano worked the seventh and Matt Strahm worked the eighth. Orion Kerkering needed just 12 pitches to lock down his first career save in the ninth. We'll have to wait and see whether this signals a full-blown closer-by-committee, or if Kerkering will get consistent ninth-inning reps.

The win moved the Phillies a half game closer to the idle New York Mets. They sit just two games back of the NL East lead, with a three-game series with New York on the horizon after Miami. Note that the game has been moved up to a 6:10 p.m. ET first pitch due to Game 6 of the Stanley Cup Finals being played in Florida on Tuesday.

He's coming off a five-inning effort against the Pittsburgh Pirates, in which he allowed four runs (three earned) on six hits with two walks and six strikeouts.
