The Philadelphia Phillies (33-18) will be looking for their 12th series win of the season on Saturday when they tangle with the Athletics (22-30) at Sutter Health Park.

The Phillies extended their winning streak to eight after hanging on for a 4-3 win on Friday. A flurry of late-inning action capped Zack Wheeler's sixth win after he extended his scoreless inning streak to 22 2/3 with 6 2/3 shutout frames.

Up 1-0 on a Trea Turner first-inning leadoff home run, the Phillies scored three times in the top of the ninth to extend their lead to 4-0. It was a good thing they did. Closer Jordan Romano gave up a three-run homer in the bottom of the ninth, and Tanner Banks came in to secure the final out for his first save of the season.

Now a season-high 15 games over .500, the Phillies have the best record in baseball and are tied for the best road record (16-10) entering action on Saturday. They lead the New York Mets by three games and the Atlanta Braves by 8.5 games in the NL East. Both Philly rivals lost on Friday, despite Ronald Acuña Jr.'s return to the Braves' lineup.
