MLB Network is in the midst of unveiling their Top 10 lists at every position in MLB. Ranked as the No. 10 left fielder in the game is the Philadelphia Phillies' Brandon Marsh.
Marsh has been with the Phillies since being acquired at the 2022 deadline from the Los Angeles Angels. He's played a combination of left and center field across his four seasons here, depending on the roster need, making him valuable to the Phillies during their postseason runs.
Phillies fans may be surprised to see him ranked among the best at his position coming into the 2026 season, but it's really not a surprise at all based on how he's played.
Brandon Marsh's No. 10 ranking among left fielders shouldn't really be a surprise
The Phillies have had some bad luck when it comes to outfield play the last few seasons. They've gotten a lot of mediocre play from key players, but Marsh has actually been reliable for them. He's had some time in center field, but the expected debut of outfield prospect Justin Crawford will push Marsh to stay in left.

Marsh had an awful start to the 2025 season, going hitless all of April (0-for-29) with five walks and 11 strikeouts. His month was also cut short by a hamstring injury, sidelining him until May 3.
He went on a tear following his return from the injured list, hitting .303 with an .836 OPS the rest of the way. With a minimum of 350 plate appearances, his .303 average during that span also ranked eighth-best in MLB, just behind Phillies shortstop Trea Turner at .305. By the end of the season, Marsh finished hitting .280 with a .785 OPS in 133 games.
One thing Marsh continues to excel in is getting on base. He finished 2025 with a .342 on-base percentage, and over the last three seasons has a .347 mark. Per Jeff Kerr of 97.3 ESPN, that ranks fifth among left fielders.
Marsh also provides good defense for the Phillies in the outfield, contrary to what they've gotten out of Nick Castellanos in right field. Marsh played the majority of the time in center when he first came to Philadelphia but has found more of a home in left field. He was even named a Gold Glove finalist for his left field play in 2024.
According to Statcast, in 2025, Marsh had a +1 fielding run value (FRV) and +1 outs above average (OAA) in 73 attempts in left field. In 204 attempts in center he finished below average with -1 OAA.
There's some good left fielders in the game today, but Marsh still stands tall in that group of players. He's still relatively young at 28 years old, while also giving the Phillies some stability in an outfield group that has desperately needed things to go their way. Marsh is still under club control for a couple more seasons, so the Phillies need to make the most of him while he's here and appreciate how good he's really been.
