The roster shakeup we've been waiting for hasn't so much as even shaken the thoughts of the Phillies front office. Bullpen arm Jordan Romano has been the biggest acquisition so far in what could be a potential reclamation project. There's still time to take advantage of the offseason but moves still have to be done as 2025 nears.

Third baseman Alec Bohm is coming off a breakthrough year in which he earned his first All-Star selection batting at a .280 clip with 97 RBI and a career-high 44 doubles, second in NL. The second half of last season saw Bohm regress in production and lack mental fortitude that coincided with the spiral of the Phillies' campaign.

Now the Phillies have Bohm involved in trade talks. On the cusp of a change of scenery, the Los Angeles Angels have checked in on the third baseman (subscription required), according to Jeff Fletcher of The Orange County Register.

The Perry Minasian era hasn't been kind to the Anaheim community since 2020. An Angels team that lost Shohei Ohtani to the Los Angeles Dodgers in free agency and took on the albatross contract of Anthony Rendon is looking to pick up the pieces. Bohm has become a target for them, and a possible trade scenario with the Angels could include a decent return.

Who should the Phillies ask for from the Angels in an Alec Bohm trade?

Bohm is still a 28-year-old rising star in the game, and the Angels have some names that could be worth the Phillies pulling the trigger on. A packaged return of outfielder Taylor Ward, pitching prospect Samuel Aldegheri and starter Tyler Anderson could fit perfectly.

Ward will be 31 next season, but can play a decent outfield. With two years of team control left, he can fill a hole in the outfield and is a threat to hit 20 home runs a season. Anderson will be a free agent after 2025 but will give the Phillies rotation depth until Andrew Painter arrives.

Aldegheri was signed as an international free agent in 2019 by the Phillies and was dealt along with George Klassen to the Angels in the Carlos Estévez trade at the 2024 trade deadline. Fans would certainly love to see him come back into the fold as another up-and-coming pitching prospect.

The Angels have hinted at moving third baseman Anthony Rendon off the hot corner as a possible position shift. Rendon's inability to stay healthy since coming to Anaheim could motivate the Angels to upgrade sooner rather than later. Bohm isn't the fleetest of foot, but can man his position and with a healthy reputation, can relieve the Angels' worries.

Rumors have been volleyed back and forth as to Bohm's value on the trade market. It hasn't been a perfect offseason, with the Phillies striking out on trades for Kyle Tucker and Garrett Crochet, but getting some names in return from Bohm would be a massive win.
