The Philadelphia Phillies' Kyle Schwarber and Trea Turner are two of the National League's nominees for the 2025 Hank Aaron Award. One recipient from the American League and one recipient from the NL will receive the award.

According to an MLB.com post authored by Theo DeRosa and Shanti Sepe-Chepuru, the recipients of the Hank Aaron Award are the players who were the best offensive players in each league during the respective season. DeRosa and Sepe-Chepuru write that 1999, the first year the award was recognized marked the 25th anniversary of Aaron breaking Babe Ruth's all-time career home run record.

Schwarber and Turner performed like elite offensive players throughout the 2025 regular season. The two players being nominated for the award serve as recognition for their outstanding years.

Schwarber had a career regular season in a contract year. It was arguably his best overall season since 2021, which he spent with the Washington Nationals and Boston Red Sox. He was playing for a new deal that year, as well. The Phillies agreed to a multi-year deal with him following that season.

The designated hitter finished with career highs (subscription required) in RBIs (132), home runs (56), runs (111), and SLG (.563). Even though Schwarber has been primarily a DH since 2024, the 32-year-old played in all 162 regular season games for the first time in his 11 seasons. He led the NL in homers and all of MLB in RBIs. His slugging percentage was fourth-best among all hitters, and the Ohio native compiled the fifth-best OPS in MLB.

Turner finished tied with the New York Yankees' Aaron Judge for the fourth-most hits in the majors with 179. The shortstop missed a few weeks with a hamstring strain in September. Had he not missed so much time with his injury, he would have led MLB in hits at the end of the regular season. Bobby Witt Jr. of the Kansas City Royals finished first in the category with 184.

The Phillies' shortstop led the NL with a .304 batting average in 141 games. Turner finished with 36 stolen bases, the eighth most in MLB. He had the sort of year that Philly fans envisioned he'd have after the organization signed him to the 11-year, $300 million contract in December 2022.

The other NL nominees for the award include Pete Alonso, Corbin Carroll, Shohei Ohtani, Geraldo Perdomo, Juan Soto, Fernando Tatis Jr., Kyle Tucker, and Christian Yelich. The American League nominees are Byron Buxton, Junior Caminero, Riley Greene, Judge, Vladimir Guerrero Jr., Nick Kurtz, Cal Raleigh, José Ramírez, George Springer, and Witt Jr.

Fans can vote for the winners on MLB.com until Sunday, Oct. 12 at 11:59 p.m. ET. The winners of the Hank Aaron Award will be announced live at the MLB Awards presented by MGM Rewards from The Chelsea at The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas on Thursday, Nov. 13.
