The Philadelphia Phillies knew they had to make the most of their potential final year with Kyle Schwarber. The Phillies' designated hitter is in a contract year, and it would be an understatement to say he exceeded expectations. He's now up to 56 home runs on the season, with the Phillies' home run franchise record in his sights, and leads all of Major League Baseball with 132 RBIs.

Schwarber is the fourth player in baseball this season to surpass 50 home runs, along with Cal Raleigh, Shohei Ohtani and Aaron Judge. He also became the third player and 21st overall to have a four-homer game. He's having a career season and will challenge for the NL MVP at year's end.

It's been an impressive run, but there's been more to Schwarber's game that has made this season one of a kind.

Kyle Schwarber's 2025 season for the Phillies has put him in elite company

According to MLB.com's Paul Casella, Schwarber put himself in some elite company after he hit his 55th home run of the year earlier this week. He became only the fourth player in MLB history to have at least 55+ home runs, 100+ walks and 10+ stolen bases in a single season.

His 56 homers so far this year bring his total with the Phillies to 187 since the beginning of 2022, the second most in baseball during that span. It's the third straight season he has walked at least 100 times, with 107 free passes so far. He has also tied a career high set in 2022, with his 10 stolen bases.

To join any list with Aaron Judge, Barry Bonds and Babe Ruth is astonishing, but it really emphasizes how valuable Schwarber has been during the Phillies' World Series trajectory.

On top of the raw numbers Schwarber has put up, he's also consistently a leader in the Phillies' clubhouse. He's cemented himself as an all-time member of the Phillies and now has a signature season for the ages and continues to amaze.

It's unclear just yet where Schwarber will fall on the NL MVP ballot come November, but what you can't argue with is history. His season is one of the greatest seasons in Phillies' history, but it's also turning into one of the great all-around seasons the game has ever seen.

The Phillies will heavily pursue Schwarber once he reaches free agency, but the club will also make the most of him right now and hopefully go out and win the World Series to cap off his historic season.
