The Philadelphia Phillies took the series opener from the Milwaukee Brewers in a way no one could’ve seen coming (I predicted a loss).

Not only did the Phillies win, they won 12-0.

They hit six home runs, including blasts from Freddy Galvis, Bryce Harper, Brad Miller, and Andrew McCutchen. Zack Wheeler threw his first scoreless start since his complete-game shutout of the Mets back on Roy Halladay Day in early August.

Phillies vs Brewers Odds Today

The Brewers have a slight edge on the moneyline today at -115 (bet $115 to win $100) over the Phillies at -105 (bet $105 to win $100).

The spread puts the Phillies -1.5 at +160 (bet $100 to win $160) and the Brewers +1.5 at -190 (bet $190 to win $100).

If you’re into betting on runs instead, the over/under for tonight’s game is 8.5. The over is -110 (bet $110 to win $100) and the under is -110 (bet $110 to win $100).

Phillies Pitcher Today: Aaron Nola

Aaron Nola is desperately trying to reinvent his September image, but hasn’t gotten off to a great start. In his first game of the month last week, he allowed six earned runs on six hits and only threw four innings. He has now allowed four or more runs in 11 of 27 starts, and only has four scoreless games to his name.

Overall this season, Nola has a 4.54 ERA over 27 starts, with 186 strikeouts and 35 walks across 152 2/3 innings. His hits and home run rates have increased, while his strikeout rate has decreased. It simply hasn’t been his day, his week, his month, or even his year.

The Phillies righty will go up against the lefty Eric Lauer, who has a 3.43 ERA in 19 games this season.
