Barring any setbacks, Scott Kingery is projected to start eighth for the Phillies in 2020.

However, whenever he is ready to return to the team and start for them, he would more than likely bat eighth the majority of the sixty game season.

He was one of the several Phillies players and staff to test positive for COVID-19 following an outbreak at the team’s spring training facility in Clearwater, Florida. However, Kingery was recently cleared and begun working out with the team again at the summer camp at Citizens Bank Park.

Per Baseball-Reference, the 26-year-old is projected to hit .249 in 2020. Out of 189 projected at-bats, Kingery is expected to compile seven home runs, 22 runs batted in, and six stolen bases.

While it is quite difficult to compare this seasons projected stats to 2019 season statistics due to the 2020 season being shortened, it is safe to say that should Kingery produce a .249 batting average like he is predicted to it would only be slightly less than the batting average he posted in 2019.

Debuting in 2018 for the Phillies, Kingery has quickly become one of the faces of the franchise. Dubbed by his teammates as ‘Scotty Jet Pax’ for his fast speed, Kingery racked up fifteen stolen bases in 2019 alone and is projected to steal six bases this season.

Behind Roman Quinn, Kingery ranks second on the team in sprint speed according to Statcast. Kingery gets from home plate to first base on an average of 4.16 seconds, per Statcast.
