Phillies news: Bryce Harper posts insane workout videos
The latest Phillies news takes us to Bryce Harper’s gym
With a lack of Phillies news we take a look inside what’s either Bryce Harper’s home gym or his trainer’s gym.
The Phillies superstar right fielder shared two workout videos on Instagram as he awaits the fate of the 2020 baseball season.
One of Harper’s videos shows him lifting what looks like an ungodly amount of weight.

If you zoom in closely on the far inside weight you can see it’s 45 lbs. It looks like each side has three 45 lb weights and a fourth smaller weight. Just six of those 45 lb weights is 270 lbs, plus whatever those end pieces are, it’s likely around 300 lbs he’s lifting.
In this second video he’s lifting a lot less but he shared a full workout plan with words and techniques I’ve never heard of and hurt to read, let alone do.

It’s good to see Harper is staying in shape and isn’t like the rest of us sitting on their couches all day.

It’s tough to know that a player of Harper’s caliber is missing out on the baseball season when he could be compiling ridiculous numbers to pad a potential Hall of Fame resume. He’s got 219 home runs and has 12 years remaining on his deal with the Phillies. If he averages 30 home runs a year for the rest of his contract (which might be undervaluing home) that’d be 360 home runs, on top of the 212 he already has. If you take away a year in his prime, does he potentially fall below 500 home runs in his career (projecting a down year or possible injury in his career)?
Based on his career averages, you’re also hurting the possibility he gets 3,000 hits, currently at 1,071 averaging 160 a season. This is also another year where he might not become a multi-MVP winner or potentially a championship player.
This virus obviously is affecting more people in bigger ways than a player padding his stats, but from a baseball sense, it’s one of the negatives players will face down the line.
