5 – Rico Brogna

Brogna played in the Major Leagues for 10 years, four of those with the Phillies. An excellent defensive first baseman, Brogna routinely was above the league average in range factor and fielding percentage. Three of his best seasons (1997 – 1999) were with the Phillies. During that stretch, he hit 20, 20 and 24 home runs with 81, 104 and 102 RBI, respectively. He also belted 22 home runs with a .289 average for the Mets in 1995. While never leading the league in any category, Brogna’s combination of offense and defense during his best seasons should have earned him at least one All-Star appearance.
