Baseball America updated their farm system talent rankings after the trade deadline, and the Phillies were ranked as the third-best organization.
The Phillies have one of the better farm systems in baseball thanks to the trades they’ve completed and their high draft positions in recent years. It’s really starting to show in recent farm system rankings. MLB.com ranked Philadelphia as the seventh-best farm system in baseball.
Now, Baseball America has upped the ante. In their post-trade deadline rankings, Philadelphia has the third-best farm in baseball. They were the top team in the “elite farm system” tier out of five teams in the tier. They come ahead of the Padres, Astros, Rays, and Yankees.
The Braves were ranked as the best farm system in baseball and the White Sox were second. Both are undergoing their own rebuilds as well right now, so they could be competitors with Philadelphia in the future.

"The good news for the Phillies, aside from another strong layer of talent they should be able to add to the farm system next year in the draft with possibly another No. 1 overall pick, is that most of their top position prospects are close to the majors. Shortstop J.P. Crawford, second baseman Scott Kingery and first baseman Rhys Hoskins are all in Triple-A and could be core pieces of Philadelphia’s next playoff team, while outfielder Nick Williams has performed well in the big leagues a small sample."
While Philadelphia isn’t in that top tier of farm systems, they are pretty darn high and it’s a good sign for their rebuild that they are so high.
