Aaron Nola isn’t perfect

Aaron Nola was great in his return from the disabled list, giving up just one run over seven innings against the Pirates. It was a great way to turn his season around after missing a month.

However, Nola couldn’t repeat that success against the Reds Friday night. In six innings, Nola allowed five runs on six hits and two walks. He gave up three runs through the first two innings of the game, preventing the team from every being able to get going.

Nola’s ERA jumped from 3.52 to 4.34 after his start Saturday night. His FIP is still at 3.77, which is actually pretty decent. Hopefully, that means he can bounce back from this poor start, but it shows that Nola’s trajectory this season won’t be straight up.
