Hellickson is coming off of a start in which he went seven innings, allowed just two runs, and struck out five batters. He currently has a league-leading 0.708 WHIP and a strong 1.88 ERA. Opponents have a .063 batting average against Hellickson’s changeup.
Volquez takes the mound for the Marlins with far weaker numbers with a 4.82 ERA and 1.66 WHIP. Despite that, our own Mike Azzalina named him a roadblock for the Phils in this series.
Galvis could have a field day today. In seven career at-bats against Volquez, he has a .571 batting average with a home run and two RBI. Daniel Nava also has four hits in six at-bats against Volquez.
