A trio of AA batters will bolster the Scottsdale Scorpions

  • 2B Scott Kingery-The Phillies selected Kingery in the second round of the 2015 draft after posting a .984 OPS in his junior year at the University of Arizona. MLB.com ranks Kingery as the No. 14 prospect in the system. Kingery started the year in High-A Clearwater before a promotion to AA Reading July 25. In 126 combined games, Kingery has a .287/.344/.391 hitting line with four home runs and 43 RBI.
  • OF Andrew Pullin-Pullin’s been through a complicated season, announcing his retirement April 9 before re-signing with the Phillies a month later. Pullin looked strong with Clearwater, hitting for a .796 OPS in 36 games. The team promoted him to Reading June 23. In 46 games, Pullin found his stride at the plate, hitting 10 home runs with a .346 average. However, Pullin spent time on the disabled list for a strained left groin as well as a right elbow sprain sustained August 28. In the AFL, Pullin will try to make up for lost time this season.
  • 3B Mitch Walding-Walding finally flashed with High-A Clearwater, posting a 137 wRC+ in 100 games. The 23-year old hit a career-high 10 home runs with the Threshers. Walding has struggled in AA, batting just .238 since his August 4 promotion. After his fifth season in the system, the team would like for Walding to see more advanced pitching in the AFL.
