Phillies History at the ESPY Awards: Doc Wins Big

ESPN will host their annual award show Wednesday evening

While the Phillies are not represented in this years ESPY awards, they do have a history in the event.

In 2011, Roy Halladay walked away with not one, but two ESPYs following his historically dominant season the previous year. Doc won the “Best Moment ESPY” for his post-season no-hitter against the Cincinnati Reds, and the “Best Major League Baseball Player,” despite finishing second in the Cy Young and ninth in the MVP voting.

In his second season with the Phillies since being traded by the Toronto Blue Jays, Halladay threw a perfect game against the Miami Marlins, and a post-season no-hitter.

Halladay went 19-6 that season for the Phillies, with a 2.35 ERA, 220 strikeouts, and a league-leading eight complete games.

The right-hander pitched over the course of four season with the Philadelphia Phillies, totaling a record of 55-29, a 3.25 ERA, 18 complete games, 622 strikeouts, a perfect game, and a post-season no-hitter. Halladay had a 3-2 record in three post-season series with the Phillies in 2010 and 2011.
