The Lakewood Blue Claws shutout the Kansas City Royal’s affiliate Lexington Legends Tuesday in a 2-0 victory. Starting pitcher Luke Leftwich pitched eight five-hit innings and struck out eight batters on 100 pitches. Edgar Garcia earned his first save of the year after allowing one hit in the ninth inning.
Josh Tobias went 1-2 with one of Lakewood’s RBIs. The second of those runs batted in came off the bat of catcher Deivi Grullon with a single. Jiandido Tromp scored after reaching base on his second triple of the season. Those three hits were the only hits of the game for Lakewood.
Outfielder Jorge Pujols was 0-3 with a strikeout after having a strong start to the season.
Amalani Fukofuka was 0-4 with four strikeouts and an error for the Lexington Legends.
Harold Arauz (1-4) gets the start Wednesday for the Blue Claws.
