The Arizona Fall League, the premier showcase league for competition among many of baseball’s top minor league prospects, has announced it’s 2015 All-Star team rosters, and one member of the Philadelphia Phillies contingent has been named to the squad.
Reliever Edubray Ramos, who pitched at Clearwater and Reading this season in the Phillies organization, was named to the West Division roster. There are seven Phillies players currently participating in the league with the Glendale Desert Dogs.
Also participating from the Phillies organization will be coach Nelson Prada, who will serve as the West Division team hitting coach. Prada served on the coaching staff of the organization’s Low-A Lakewood BlueClaws this season, after holding the managerial position at Williamsport and Clearwater in the 2013 and 2014 seasons respectively.
Ramos is a righthander out of Venezuela who played with the Saint Louis Cardinals affiliate in the Venezuelan Summer League as a 17-year old back in 2010 before coming to the Phillies organization in that same league for the 2013 season.
The 22-year old rose slowly but steadily through the minor leagues over the last three seasons with the Phillies organization. He has allowed 140 hits in 164.1 innings, with a 166/49 K:BB ratio, a 3.12 ERA, and a 1.150 WHIP mark.

Ramos was outstanding this season, split between High-A Clearwater and AA Reading. He went 4-6 with 8 Saves over 47 games between the two affiliates, allowing just 48 hits in 69.2 innings while recording a 65/16 K:BB ratio.
Back in July, Jordan Hall with CSN Philly called Ramos “one of the club’s most exciting arms out of the bullpen” whose “heater clocks in the high-90’s“, and quoted a scouting report on his breaking ball that called it “a wipeout pitch that misses bats.”
With roles in the 2016 Phillies bullpen wide open behind closer Ken Giles, Ramos will most certainly have a shot to make the big league club out of spring training next season. At worst, he should start the year with either Reading or Lehigh Valley, and make his big league debut at some point.
