NOTES
The Phils evened up the series with a nice win yesterday behind the pitching of Aaron Harang and hitting of Jeff Francoeur. Tonight’s weather will be similarly miserable.
An Atlanta native, Buchanan was the Phils 7th rounder in the 2010 Amateur Draft out of Georgia State. He rose methodically through the minors, going 6-2 with a 3.95 ERA at AAA-Lehigh Valley in a dozen starts last year before getting called up.
Masterson was actually born in Jamaica, but went to high school in Ohio. He was selected by the Red Sox in the 2nd round of the 2006 Amateur Draft, and appeared as a reliever in 9 games during the 2008 postseason. He was traded to Cleveland in the Victor Martinez deal in July 2009, and pitched 2 innings in their Wildcard Game loss to Tampa in 2013. The Tribe dealt him to the Cards at last year’s trade deadline, and then Boston signed him as a free agent in December.
Dom Brown, on the 15-day DL, will begin a rehab assignment tonight with the team’s High-A Clearwater Threshers affiliate. .
