Giancarlo Stanton Trade Talk Scared Up Again For Whatever Reason

The Phillies and Giancarlo Stanton have had a pretty turbulent relationship.  First, there was that unconfirmed rumor.

Then, this.

And that’s where we are today.  No need to recall that if the Marlins wanted to get rid of Stanton for some asinine reason, every team in the league would want him, so why he would go to the Phillies, who have not a lot of desirable trade pieces, is beyond anyone.

Of course, there are those trade deadline/impending names like Utley, Halladay, Chooch, but casting them off to Miami seems so… unbelievably unfair.  Also, it’s so early.  It does not seem an appropriate time to already be trading people to the Marlins, if there is ever a right time.

"“The feeling around baseball is that Stanton could become available at some point and the Phils have let it be known they want to speak with the Marlins when and if they decide to move the young, power-hitting rightfielder.”—Jim Salisbury, CSN Philly"

So nothing’s happening, now, but if it does, oh ho ho ho man, you better believe the Phillies are going to be all over that with their somewhat minimal assets.
