The Philadelphia Phillies gave their fans a ride in 2025. There were some incredible highs and some lowly lows that we all experienced together, whether at the ballpark or watching at home. In a season that ended on a sour note, there were plenty of plays and moments that most of us will never forget.
From game-changing individual heroics to team accomplishments to just plain old zany baseball plays, the 2025 regular season packed in an abundance of memories for Phillies fans.
As 2025 draws to a close and we peer ahead to 2026, we're counting down the 10 biggest plays of the Phillies' regular season. Not everything could make it into the top 10, obviously, so we'll give an honorable mention to Nick Castellanos' season-finale walk-off that just missed the cut. If it wasn't a meaningless game, it probably would've made the list.
Without further ado, here are the top 10 plays of the Phillies' 2025 season.
Ranking the top 10 plays of the Philadelphia Phillies' 2025 season
10. Kyle Schwarber's All-Star Game swing-off
Technically this isn’t a Phillies play, but it is a Kyle Schwarber play, so that counts. And in the season of Schwarber, he helped the National League team secure an unforgettable All-Star Game victory in the first-ever swing-off to decide the Midsummer Classic.
Schwarber took three swings and launched all three balls deep into the Atlanta night in an epically climactic fashion. Schwarber’s heroics earned him the All-Star Game MVP even though he went 0-for-2 with a walk during the game itself. His feat finished at No. 16 on MLB's top 100 plays of 2025.

9. The double slide, June 20
This was just one of the coolest plays you'll ever see on a baseball diamond. With the Phillies and rival New York Mets locked in a 2-2 clash heading into the bottom of the seventh inning on June 20, the good guys broke the game wide open with a six-run frame.
The Phillies had already scored three runs to take the lead when Bryson Stott doubled in three more. Two of those runs came a split second apart when Nick Castellanos and J.T. Realmuto pulled off the now legendary "double slide" into home, sending the home fans into an absolute frenzy. The Phillies tacked on two more in the ninth in the satisfying 10-2 romp.

8. Edmundo Sosa's incredible home run robbery, April 8
Of all the things that happened during the 2025 season, this may have been the least expected at the outset. While Edmundo Sosa has been a valuable utility player since joining the Phillies, he’s primarily shown off his defensive chops on the infield. But with the Phillies looking to get his hot bat in the lineup early in the year, he got his first career start in left field on April 8 at Truist Park in Atlanta.
All Sosa did on his first play ever in left field was track a ball into the corner and make a leaping catch over the wall to rob a home run off the bat of Marcel Ozuna. It was an absolutely incredible turn of events that blew the minds of Phillies fans and snuck in at No. 99 on MLB’s top 100 plays of the year.

7. Kyle Schwarber hits his 300th career home run, May 20
In a season of majestic Schwarber home runs, he hit a mammoth shot to reach a career milestone with No. 300 in the thin air of Coors Field on May 20. He crushed the 466-foot blast into the third deck in the top of the ninth of a Phillies’ 9-3 win. The monster career homer came in at No. 87 in MLB’s top 100 plays of the year.
Possibly the best part of this story is that the ball was caught by some Phillies fans who met Schwarber afterward to return the milestone keepsake. One of those fans told Schwarber he didn’t want an autograph in return for the 300th home run ball, but just for the slugger to re-sign in Philadelphia. Mission accomplished.

6. Zack Wheeler's (almost) perfect game, July 6
Zack Wheeler is a different breed of pitcher, almost a throwback. He was well on his way to contending for the NL Cy Young (again) this year before having his season cut short. The apex of his 2025 season came on July 6, after he had just won NL Pitcher of the Month for June with an insane run.
Riding that high, Wheeler took the ball on a sunny Sunday at Citizens Bank Park and carved up an overwhelmed Cincinnati Reds lineup, tossing a gem of a one-hitter. The lone blemish on his day was a solo home run off the bat of former Phillie Austin Hays (of course). He struck out 12 without any walks and received a well-deserved standing ovation throughout the ninth inning.

5. The 8-home run game, Sept. 24
Surprisingly, Schwarber’s four-home run game wasn’t part of the Phillies’ eight-homer team effort. He did hit a pair, however, in the franchise record-setting night that came almost a month after his personal derby.
Sosa, in his return from the 10-day IL, led the charge against the Miami Marlins that fateful night, hitting three bombs in an 11-1 win. Bryson Stott, Alec Bohm, and Otto Kemp all chipped in with round-trippers of their own. The cherry on top? The Phillies clinched their first-round bye in monumental fashion.
4. Johan Rojas' catch that saved a comeback, May 2
Just days after their first walk-off of the year (we'll get to that next), Johan Rojas provided a highlight reel play to save a win for the Phillies. Heading into the seventh trailing 2-1 to the Arizona Diamondbacks, the Phillies scored a pair to take the lead. They carried the 3-2 edge into the ninth when José Alvarado came on for the save.
The first batter of the inning, Lourdes Gurriel Jr., blasted a shot deep to center field. With the ball looking like extra bases for sure, which would have put the tying run in scoring position, Rojas came out of nowhere, making a galloping grab before crashing into the wall near Monty's Angle.

3. A wild pitch walk-off, April 29
With the season still relatively young, just a month into the campaign, the Phillies were facing the Washington Nationals and put together their first big walk-off win of 2025. The weirdest part about it was that they scored the winning run without even getting a hit.
It was chaos at The Bank on that late April night. The Phillies had already tied the game 6-6 by scoring one run in the bottom of the ninth. With two outs, Trea Turner came up with Stott, the winning run, standing on third base. That was all the Phillies needed, as Nationals closer Kyle Finnegan uncorked a wild pitch to bring Stott home for the 7-6 win.

2. Brandon Marsh's 11th-inning walk-off, June 9
Another walk-off rally later in the season gave another Phillie the chance to play hero. This one came on June 9 in the 11th inning, when Brandon Marsh secured a 4-3 win over the Chicago Cubs with a clutch knock. It couldn't have come at a better time, either, with the Phillies scuffling having dropped five straight games and nine of their last 10.
Trailing 3-2 heading to the bottom of the frame, the Phillies got three straight singles (two were bunts) to tie the game and load the bases for Marsh. He didn't waste any time, launching a 99.8 mph fastball back up the middle for a deep single off the base of the ball in left center. An interesting fact: it was Marsh's first career walk-off hit at any level.

1. Kyle Schwarber pops 4 home runs in one game, Aug. 28
This was easily one of the most electric games and moments of the season and of recent memory. Phillies fans will never forget Schwarber's epic four-homer game on Aug. 28. Coming in at No. 10 in MLB’s top 100 plays of the year, Schwarber crushed the quartet of long balls against the Braves, becoming just the 21st player in MLB history to accomplish the feat.
He went 4-for-6 and set a franchise record with nine RBIs in a 19-4 rout. That night also happened to be the game that the popular sitcom Abbott Elementary filmed an episode at Citizens Bank Park, with Schwarber making his acting debut with a post-game cameo. Take a bow, Kyle.
