As the Philadelphia Phillies embark on the next month of spring training, there are a handful of intriguing prospects to follow. The most well-known and highly touted are Andrew Painter, Aidan Miller and Justin Crawford.
There are some others to keep tabs on as well. While no prospects are expected to crack the Opening Day roster, there are names beyond the top-ranked youngsters that have the potential to open some eyes.
One of those prospects is the big, power-hitting outfielder Gabriel Rincones Jr.

Rincones Jr. was drafted by the Phillies in the third round of the 2022 MLB Draft. The soon-to-be 24-year-old is currently listed as the organization's 14th-ranked prospect according to FanGraphs and finished the 2024 season ranked as the No. 10 prospect in the Phillies' system on MLB.com.
After missing some time due to injuries, he is not viewed as a player who is expected to make an impact with the big league club this season, but he does have some impressive power that makes him an interesting prospect to watch as he develops.
The 6-foot-3 left-handed slugger put some of his power on display on Sunday at BayCare Ballpark in Clearwater when he demolished a 391-foot home run that left the bat at 107.1 mph.

Rincones Jr. finished the 2024 season at Double-A Reading. It is likely he will start at the same level in 2025. In 59 games at Reading, the slugger hit 11 home runs and knocked in 29 runs. He slashed .263/.357/.487 with an .843 OPS.
While he is known for his power, Rincones Jr. also swiped 20 bases in his time at Double-A last season. As is the case with most power hitters, he struck out at a fairly high clip.
Rincones Jr. also played in the Arizona Fall League this past year. In 22 games, he hit two home runs and posted a .769 OPS while driving in nine runs and stealing nine bases.
The Florida Atlantic prospect played this fall to make up for some of the development time that he missed from some of those earlier injuries. According to Baseball America scouting reports, Rincones Jr. has the potential to contribute to a major league team (subscription required) with his makeup if he is able to stay on the field.
This coming season will be a big one for Rincones Jr.'s development. He has missed time in the past, but if he can stay healthy and continue to hit the ball hard, he could be an intriguing prospect in the upcoming future.
