Well, it all comes down to this. A Game7 in the National League Championship Series between the Philadelphia Phillies and the Arizona Diamondbacks on Tuesday night.
Game 6 of the NLCS was supposed to be the Phillies' send-off to their second straight World Series. They had the momentum from a big Game 5 win, they had Aaron Nola on the mound and they had Citizens Bank Park jumping.
But then the game started, and things got somber in a hurry. Nola had a strong start in the first inning, but the wheels fell off in the second. He gave up a pair of solo home runs and an RBI double to put his team in a 3-0 hole. Unfortunately, the bats didn't have much going to get the Phillies back in the game, with Merrill Kelly shutting them down for five strong innings, striking out eight, only giving up a single run.
The Phillies would end up losing 5-1 in a flat, listless performance in front of their stunned fans.
So on Tuesday, the Phillies will send Ranger Suárez to the hill to try and save their season and finally punch their ticket to the World Series to face the American League champion Texas Rangers. They're going to be in tough against rookie starter Brandon Pfaadt, who made short work of them in his Game 3 start at Chase Field.
