Chase Field in Arizona is quickly turning into a house of horrors for the Philadelphia Phillies in this NLCS. The bats showed life on Friday night in Game 4, but the bullpen couldn't lock it down, allowing the Diamondbacks to storm back for a 6-5 victory and even the series at two games apiece.
Phillies starter Cristopher Sánchez couldn't get out of the third inning, running into trouble after forgetting how many outs there were on a comebacker that should have been a double play. Instead, it went for a single out, and the Diamondbacks capitalized. Sánchez lasted 2 1/3, only surrendering one run on two hits, but Rob Thomson was quick with the hook.
Meanwhile, the Diamondbacks bullpen game looked to fall apart when the Phillies went up 5-2 in the seventh, but the home team got it done against Soto, Kerkering, Kimbrel and Alvarado.
Arizona will now send their ace, Zac Gallen, to the hill tonight to try and grab a 3-2 series lead. The Phillies will counter with their ace, Zack Wheeler. The Game 5 battle of the Zac(k)s will be a rematch from Game 1 of the NLCS when Wheeler got the win, and the Phillies touched up Gallen for five runs in their 5-3 victory.
