Phillies vs. Reds prediction and odds for Thursday, April 13 (Philadelphia is about to get hot)
The Phillies haven't got off to the start that fans were hoping for, but I'm here to tell you not to panic!
Philadelphia begins a four-game series against the Cincinnati Reds Thursday, and I really like the Phillies chances to add a few notches to the win column, especially on Thursday.
Let's dive into the odds for the first game of the series and then I'll tell you why we shouldn't push the panic button just quite yet.
Phillies vs. Reds odds, run line, and total
Phillies vs. Reds prediction and pick
The Phillies may not be above .500 yet, but their offense certainly isn't to blame. They rank inside the top 5 in the Majors in OPS, while somehow only ranking 22nd in runs per game. That tells me that we're going to see positive regression sooner rather than later when it comes to runs for the Phillies.
Now should be a good time to start racking up runs when they face the lowly Cincinnati Reds. Nick Lodolo will get the start for the Reds and while he has had a good start to his season, he Phillies managed to get eight hits and four runs on him in his two starts against Philadelphia last season.
Let's also have faith in Bailey Falter, who will get the start for Philadelphia. He sports a 2.61 ERA in his first two starts, and he can more than hang in this battle of lefties.
With two lefties facing off against each other, its important to note that Philadelphia has had better offensive success against left-handed pitchers this season. They rank ninth in OPS against lefties, while the Reds come in at 16th.
I'll back the Phillies as small underdogs in this spot.
