The Philadelphia Phillies are poised for another deep playoff run. The club has endured its peaks and valleys while still maintaining its lead in the NL East. September is more than halfway over, which means teams are either closing the books on the season, fighting for a final playoff spot, or as the Phillies are doing, looking to secure a top seed in their respective league, per NBC Sports Philadelphia's Paul Hagen.
The Phillies have, for the most part, been in the conversation as the best team in the NL. There was well-deserved hype behind this team at the start of the season with another revamped roster including the emergence of multiple first-time All-Stars.
The team has lived up to the hype and is only days away from capturing their first division title in 13 long years. As of Wednesday, the magic number to clinch the NL East is down to four (subscription required), while a first-round bye may take a little more effort with less than a couple of weeks to go in the regular season, per Alex Coffey of The Philadelphia Inquirer.
Phillies' playoff ticket prices are already bonkers
Phillies fans are not shy about getting their tickets early for another magical playoff run. It's to be expected from such a passionate fan base that hangs on every moment. Something else that may not be quite a surprise is the price jumps already for playoff tickets.
Prices are always the biggest hurdle when taking that final leap to purchase your playoff tickets. Sometimes it's not possible to take all your loved ones to see a playoff game with inflated prices, and who could blame you based on recent news?
Resale value of playoff tickets has more than quadrupled their prices on resale sites. Unless fans are partial or full-season ticket-holders, you're left to the mercy of resellers to dictate the market. The resellers know it and are making the consumer pay.
As Phillies Tailgate pointed out earlier this month, resellers were already jacking up prices for postseason games at Citizens Bank Park. At the time of writing, the most expensive ticket, behind home plate, for Game 1 of the NLDS will run you $4,144 on StubHub. The cheapest listed for that Saturday is $238 in section 419.
If you want to avoid the resellers, who can try your luck with the random draw for the opportunity to purchase Phillies playoff tickets.
If fans can scrape together some money to get themselves to The Bank, either by season ticket benefit, reseller, or luck, at the end of the day, the playoff experience is what baseball is all about.
Outside of ticket prices and seating availability, once you get to the ballpark and feel that cool October air, you know you're in the thick of it. As Nick Castellanos wonderfully put it, "Hey, it's tough to play in the jungle, man."
There is nothing like Citizens Bank Park in the fall. Whether you can make it to the games or gather around with your friends and family, we're all in it together. October is approaching, and we can't wait to watch the next postseason run.
