Philadelphia Phillies rookie Weston Wilson made history on Thursday night, becoming just the ninth player in franchise history to hit for the cycle.
“I think it’s a testament to perseverance, staying with everything,” Wilson told MLB.com. “It hasn’t been easy, but last year against them was my first game. To have that moment last year and this one, it’s really cool.”
Wilson's journey to the Majors has been a long one. After spending eight seasons in the Minors, Wilson first joined the Phillies in 2023, where he smacked a home run in his first career at-bat.
A year later, he's hit for the cycle as the replacement for locker-room favorite Whit Merrifield.
“Just very grateful,” Wilson said.
