The 2024 MLB Draft is right around the corner and hopefully, this year is just as fruitful as the Philadelphia Phillies' 2023 draft when they somehow snagged uber prospect Aidan Miller near the end of the first round.
Last year's 27th pick looks like the steal of that draft. Miller dropped down the board thanks to a prior hamate bone injury, and the Phillies pounced. So far, the young shortstop has done nothing but impress in less than a full year of professional baseball and is ranked as the Phillies No. 2 prospect by MLB Pipeline.

So, when do the Phillies get the chance to repeat last year's success? The 2024 MLB Draft will get underway tonight, Sunday, July 14, as part of All-Star Week. The full draft runs from July 14-16.
Stuck between Saturday's Futures Game, which featured Miller and No. 3 prospect Justin Crawford, and Monday's always popular Home Run Derby, the MLB Draft doesn't have the same luster as the NFL or NBA drafts. Still, for baseball fans, it offers a small glimpse of their team's potential future.
The first round will begin at 7:00 p.m. ET and will be aired live on ESPN and MLB Network with a simulcast on MLB.com. MLB Network and MLB.com will carry the entire evening's top 74 picks from the Cowtown Coliseum in Fort Worth, Texas.
How Many Rounds Are in the MLB Draft?
The 2024 MLB Draft will see 600 selections made over 20 rounds spanning three days. After the initial 74 picks on Sunday night, the draft will resume on Monday at 2:00 p.m. ET and then pick up again on Tuesday at the same time.
Rounds three to 10 will happen on Monday, while rounds 11-20 will take place on Tuesday. Both days will be available on MLB.com.
When do the Phillies pick in 2024 MLB Draft?
Just like last year, the Phillies will be making the 27th pick in the 2024 MLB Draft. While there have been endless mock drafts over the past months, we won't know for sure who the Phillies will draft until they make their first official selection tonight.
Let's hope they can spin some more 27th-pick magic and repeat with a steal of a pick like Miller in 2023. Their second-round pick on Sunday night will be the 63rd overall selection in the draft.
The Phillies have pick No. 100 in the third round, as well as picks 130 and 162 in the fourth and fifth rounds, respectively. They'll be slotted in at every 27th pick for the remaining rounds.
